Nordjamb2006 started yesterday in Icelandic rain
09.08.2006 | At 10:00 yesterday morning the Nordjamb2006 jamboree was formely started. The opening ceremony took place at Perlan, which is one of the monument buildings located on a hill overviewing Reykjavik. It was a typical Icelandic weather - raining but the 260 participants looked excited and happy. Of those 230 are coming from abroad from 10 different countries. After rather short opening ceremony all the scouts entered their vechicles and started on their 4 tours all over the country. On Friday everyone will gather together at Lake Ulfljotsvatn. We have one life camera at Ulfljotsvatn where everyone can see a little of the activity going on, but this is only small angle of the site http://81.15.23.59/Aview.htm

Due to unforeseen obstacles we have been forced to change plans for the Base Camp in Brynjudalur. The major change is that Base Camp Brynjudalur has been moved to Ulfljotsvatn Scout Centre.

This year we will be hosting a photography contest at Nordjamb 2006. Participants take photographs on their tours (first half of the Nordjamb 2006), then they must choose only one photo, which will compete in one of the following categories.

The Airport
All participants arriving at Keflavik Airport will be met by members of the Nordjamb Team.

Pizza party and The Blue Lagoon
09.05.2006 | Evening 13th of August: A pizza party and a campfire in Reykjavik
On the evening of the 13th of August we are planning to have a “get together” in Reykjavik. There will be a pizza party and a campfire. The price of the pizza party will bee ISK 1500 and then we will party into the night.

We have decided to organise a Nordjamb tour to the magic place Blue Lagoon. It’s unique and an absolute must to everyone that wants to experience something different. Duration: 4-5 hours.
Schedule: Monday 14th of August.

Route: Southeast to the famous Blue Lagoon.

Now there are little over 3 months until Nordjamb 2006 and everything is coming together. Registration is closing and we are expecting about 250 scouts from all over the world to be at Nordjamb 2006 in August. The jamboree team has been busy planning all the expeditions and we are making the finishing touches these days. The jamboree site is already fit for us as well as the program that will be at Úlfljótsvatn.
